Where have I been lately?

August 2010: After starting the month in Arkansas, I began my off-campus duty assignment (aka sabbatical) at Australian National University. I hope the semester will allow me to engage in exciting research projects, including new projects related to the digital divide and healthcare. I also hope this is the semester when I will finally finish my book!

July 2010: I spent more time in Hong Kong and India before returning to Arkansas. Toward the end of the month, I attended a most fascinating Black Hat Security conference. It has got my wheels turning in terms of future research possibilities that are at the intersection of many fields, including criminology and law.

June 2010: I spent quite a little bit of time in India and the rest in China, both Hong Kong and Beijing. Besides pursuing my research projects, I enjoyed great food and playing badminton. Of course, nothing rivaled the company of the wonderful hosts and other visitors to HKUST at that time.

May 2010: As is typical of my summers, I traveled to Asia to pursue my research projects. In May, I spent time at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST). I also traveled to India. I made a very short trip to France (Nantes and La Rochelle) that included attending, giving a keynote and participating in a panel at AIM.

Apr 2010: April Fools' day and the first part of April started at Cincinnati, where I also had a chance to present my favorite project of all—i.e., working toward solving the digital divide in India. I went to Las Vegas for a few days for a conference. I spent the rest of the month in Arkansas.

Mar 2010: I spent a couple of weeks at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University and taught a theory development workshop. I then traveled back to India to continue my digital divide project. This was followed by a visit to HEC Paris. By the end of the month, I was back in the US and visited and gave a talk at CISR at MIT.

Feb 2010: I spent some time in India, working on the digital divide project. I then visited the Australian National University. At the end of the month, I traveled to Hong Kong.

Jan 2010: The break continued in Ft. Lauderdale and Orlando. I also attended a conference, spent some time getting some work done in Atlanta. After this, I returned to Arkansas for the start of the spring semester. Toward the end of January, I visited Copenhagen Business School to participate in a workshop for PhD students, hosted by Dr. Suprateek Sarker. At the end of the month, I left for India to continue my ongoing digital divide research.

Dec 2009: I attended ICIS in Phoenix and was a panelist at the SIGADIT workshop. After ICIS, I spent a day at Dr. Arun Rai's (and Dr. Elena Karahanna's) castle in Atlanta. I spent the break in my favorite US city down in South Florida.

November 2009: I visited the University of Arizona and presented my collaborative research, with Tracy Sykes, on the digital divide. I also enjoyed spending a few days with my friend and collaborator, Dr. Sue Brown.

October 2009: I visited Hong Kong Polytechnic University to conduct collaborative research. While there, I also presented my work with Xiaojun Zhang on online and offline networks. I then traveled to San Diego to attend Information Systems Research Senior Editors’ meeting.

September 2009: I visited the University of Texas at Dallas and presented my collaborative research, with Tracy Sykes, on the digital divide. I also traveled to Boston College to an Information Systems Research special issue workshop on the role of IT in healthcare, and presented a paper on an e-healthcare system implementation (coauthored with Tracy Sykes and Xiaojun Zhang).

August 2009: After enjoying some much needed down-time in my home away from home at Ft. Lauderdale, I was in San Francisco during AMCIS. Later in the month, I was in St. John, Canada to be a keynote speaker at the World Congress on Privacy, Security, Trust and the Management of E-business—I had never before been in the Atlantic timezone.
