Web & Wireless
Design
Web and
wireless sites represent the newest channels for organizations to reach
their consumers. One of the best ways to enhance e-commerce capabilities
of organizations is to design effective web and wireless sites. I have
four published papers within this area, including two recent publications,
one in MIS Quarterly and one in Management Science respectively.
My work in this area builds on a Microsoft white paper on usability
guidelines. With colleagues from various universities, I have developed
the survey instrument that can be used to assess usability. I have
also tested the usability
of web and wireless sites in various industries. The studies conducted
are based on data from actual consumers in various industries and their
reactions to leading web and wireless sites, such as the ones of General
Motors, Hertz, Northwest Airlines, Amazon.com, among others. In addition
to consumer reactions to web and wireless sites, data about their purchases
have also been gathered to examine the predictive validity of the usability
metric that was developed based on the Microsoft white paper.
An overview
of the models in this area is shown here.
