I have conducted extensive research on the use of technologies in households for over 10 years now. My work in this general domain has flowed with the times by focusing on the latest technological innovations from personal computers to web sites to wireless sites. My research within this area can be organized into three broad areas:

1. Models: I have been involved in developing and extending theoretical frameworks and models that explain household adoption and use of technology. In addition to developing a model termed model of adoption of technology in households (MATH), my work has extended this model by incorporating the household life cycle perspective from consumer behavior research, and both papers were published in MIS Quarterly in 2001 and 2005 respectively. 2. Web and wireless site design: Web and wireless sites represent the newest channels for organizations to reach their consumers. One of the best ways to enhance e-commerce capabilities of organizations is to design effective web and wireless sites. 3. Internet addiction: Despite many benefits, there have been several reports of negative consequences of excessive Internet use. Consequences reported range from dropping out of school to broken marriages. My ongoing work in this area focuses on examining the determinants and consequences of excessive Internet use.
